Installation is where a good blind becomes a good window covering. Brackets in the right place, the headrail level, the cords safe and the whole thing working smoothly — none of that is difficult, but all of it is easy to get slightly wrong, and a blind installed badly will never look right no matter how good the fabric is.

What installation involves

Fixing points — we check what’s behind the plaster before drilling, and use the right fixings for timber, drywall, masonry or a metal window frame
Level and square — a blind that’s slightly out of level rolls unevenly and shows it on the first sunny morning
Clearances — checking the blind still clears handles, and that inward-opening windows and tilt-and-turn mechanisms still work
Cord safety — cord tidies and tension devices fitted properly, which matters in any home with children or pets
Setting up operation — chain tension, motor pairing and remote setup where you have a motorized blind, then showing you how it works
Cleanup — packaging taken away, dust cleared, and nothing left for you to deal with

Timing, and working around the house

Most installations are a single visit. A typical window takes a few minutes; a whole house usually fits into a morning or an afternoon. We can work around flooring, decorating or furniture delivery, and we’re happy to be one of the last trades in so nothing gets marked on the way past. If you have a rental or a commercial space, we can work outside trading hours where practical — just say so when booking.

After the installation

Blinds settle. Chains stretch a little, fabric relaxes, and occasionally something needs a small adjustment — usually within the first weeks. If something isn’t working the way it should, tell us and we’ll come back and sort it. That’s part of the job, not an inconvenience.

Questions we’re asked most often

Do you install blinds I bought elsewhere?

No — we measure, supply and install our own products as one job. It’s the only way we can stand behind the fit.

How long will it take on the day?

A single window: a few minutes. A whole house: typically two to four hours depending on the number of windows and whether any are motorized. We’ll give you a realistic estimate when we book.

Do I need to be home?

For an ordinary installation, no — but someone needs to let us in, and we’d prefer to show you how everything works before we leave.

What about very high windows?

We plan for access at the measuring stage rather than discovering it on the day. Very high or awkward windows may need motorization so you’re not climbing anything to use them — see our motorized blinds page.
