Why roller blinds suit so many PEI windows
Most homes here have standard rectangular windows, and roller blinds are made to fit them exactly. They sit close to the glass, which is what you want in a climate with long winters: the closer the fabric sits to the window, the better it holds back the cold coming off the glass and the condensation that forms on it.

Fabric choice affects heat and privacy more than any other decision, so it’s worth seeing samples against your own wall colour and light rather than picking from a screen.

How they’re operated
Chain operation is the standard and the most economical. Cordless versions remove the hanging loop entirely, which is worth considering in a home with young children or cats. Measuring and installation
Roller blinds are made to your window’s exact width and drop, which is why accurate measuring matters more than most people expect: a blind that is a few millimetres out will either catch on the frame or leave a light gap down the side. We measure on site, confirm whether the blind should fit inside the window recess or over it, and install them once they arrive.

Inside the recess looks tidier and keeps the wall clear; fitting over the recess gives better light blocking and more room to clear handles. If your window has a deep sill or an opening casement, it affects the answer — we’ll tell you which suits yours when we measure.
Are they suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes, with the right fabric. Those rooms need something that copes with moisture and can be wiped down rather than a delicate weave. We’ll point you to the appropriate fabrics.
How do you clean them?
Most roller fabrics are dusted with a dry cloth or vacuumed gently on a low setting. Spots usually lift with a damp cloth and mild soap. Heavier cleaning depends on the fabric, so we’ll tell you what yours needs.
How long do they last?
It depends on use and sun exposure rather than the blind itself. South and west-facing windows fade fabric faster than north-facing ones, and blinds that are raised and lowered every day wear differently from those left in one position. We’d rather give you honest guidance on that than a number.
